Anti-FGM and child marriage campaigner

Payzee Mahmod

She/Her

Payzee Mahmod is a survivor of FGM, child marriage, and a forced marriage. A Kurdish immigrant, raised in London, she uses her voice to speak out as a survivor and has made it her mission to be a changemaker, helping to tackle these harmful practices. As part of this, she has already successfully changed UK law to protect young people from child marriage.​​​

Former teacher and youth group leader

Sarah Maile

She/Her

Sarah Maile was a teacher for 14 years and was Curriculum Leader for PSHCE and Citizenship in her school. She has a Masters in Teaching and Learning and regularly delivers training on issues such as FGM, Breast Ironing & sexuality. She is a youth group leader and is co-chairs the Access and Inclusion Network at the Information Commissioner's Office.

Financial mentor

Farhaan Saleel

He/Him

Farhaan is an ETF Project Manager at Citigroup and holds a degree in computer science from Columbia University. He began supporting Sex Ed Matters when he joined the Yunus and Youth Fellowship for social entrepreneurs in May 2023 and focuses on helping us develop our financial sustainability, grant applications and expansion into new markets.

Charity and communications

Hannah Tait

She/Her

Hannah has worked with leading multi-academy trusts, nationally-renowned charities and edtech providers to help them achieve their strategic goals. She is also a Director on the Board of Trustees at The Howard Academy Trust. She also works as Communications Manager at the education technology charity The Sahamiye Foundation.

Andy Hubbard

He/Him

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Andy has broad experience. He has held senior management positions in a number of organisations and owns a marketing & PR company. He also supports many local charities in Leicestershire and Rutland.

University Senior Lecturer and Researcher

Ann-Marie Argyropulo-Palmer

She/Her

Annie has 15 years experience in state schools in London and the West Midlands and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Chester and an Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research is focused on the Continued Professional Development of teachers.

Mental health champion and Higher Ed

Emma Rundle

She/Her

Emma has experience in creating and maintaining strong relationships with partners, academics and stakeholders. Her expertise in project management and communication will be helpful in expanding the reach of Sex Ed Matters and collaborating with other organisations. Emma's commitment to social justice, mental health and inclusive education aligns with Sex Ed Matters' mission perfectly.

Isabella Sharp

She/Her

Isabella is a communications expert with twenty years’ experience driving integrated communication campaigns for tech, arts and culture, healthcare and education. Isabella is a passionate advocate for equality and has worked for the Girls’ Day School Trust and for the WOW (Women of the World) Festival whilst at Southbank Centre.
